Balafong is much more than a website with classy fonts and a beautiful background - it is an idea!
The Balafong idea sprang from a desire to share literary material from young amateur writers
who felt the need to secure a new medium for spreading fresh literary material in an interactive
way that did not necessarily remove fun from the peer-learning experience.
Having already formed links with young Gambian and other West African writers around the
world, we continued to share material on facebook and our respective blogs from which we
noticed a serious appetite for both light and heavy literature with the daily random “rantings” of
the Balafong team. With this light research information, a strong relationship based on mutual
respect and love for an advancement in peer-writing and sharing was built and expanded on.
Balafong.com is therefore the second step to a realization of our dream. With our group of
young, dedicated writers, bloggers, artists and technicians, we strive to create and manage
a system that allows for fun expression, random musings and taking better advantage of the
resources that the internet has placed at our doorsteps.
Balafong.com is the beginning of many similar projects that the Balafong idea hopes to create.
With the web magazine, we seek to establish a hub for literary material of all types from all
ages and serving an audience ranging in age, taste and culture. Balafong.com basically strives to
become a frequent spot for people everywhere.
As the Balafong family grows, the balafong.com content will grow with it and we will continue
to emphasize on the quality of published material at all times, ensuring that every reader who
visits the site will always leave fully satisfied and wanting more.
