Viviane Ndour- Kumu Nexuul

Hi guys!! So I am up this morning stuck listening to Viviane Ndour's "Kumu Nexuul". I'm addicted! I'll be honest. This song had to grow on me but I've found myself loving it as the days go by. I've made a conscience effort to sit and digest Mbalax lyrics and on this track, she sings about Alboury Ndiaye, king of the Djolof Empire. I wrote the lyrics to the first verse so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did smileyRead more »

Youssou Ndour's tfm

Hi guys!

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging that much lately :(

I just found out Youssou Ndour had a television channel. I was beyond elated.

I am in love. tfm as it is called, is very nicely done. I watched a mini clip of Viviane Ndour and for those of you familiar with the comedian Kouthia, he has his own show on the network called the Kouthia Show. Marshallah today has been a good day. Youssou Ndour has brought me so much joy I cannot put into words. I'm less homesick and I feel more connected to the continent than ever.

I also ran into Abdou Guite Seck's new video on there and the song is beautiful.

Viviane Ndour - Waaw Waaw

If you're a Viviane fan, you're gonna love this song. It's grown on me (although I could do without Salam Diallo and the out of tune drumming). I find myself singing along to certain parts...ie my favorite "Yaa saf saapak sucre" hehe

The quality of Senegalese Music videos has improved drastically and it makes this Senegambian very happy. Thione Seck's new video for his song DIAGA was like a mini movie, very nicely made. I would have posted it on here but the song is 8mins long and any song that goes beyond 5 minutes loses me along the way :)
